Ivan Milat

Ivan Milat, infamously known as the Backpacker Killer, was one of Australia's most prolific and brutal serial killers. Between 1989 and 1992, he terrorized the New South Wales region by kidnapping and murdering at least seven young travelers in the Belanglo State Forest. His crimes led to a massive manhunt and a landmark trial that gripped the nation, ultimately resulting in seven life sentences. Milat remains a haunting figure in Australian criminal history, symbolizing a loss of innocence for the country's tourism and outback safety.
